Yamaha XS650

I had collected a lot of parts over time with no specific project in mind and stored in my spare room. So what to do when you have a guest coming to stay for a while? Build a bike! Once I received the frame late April it took me about 4.5 months to complete the build (excluding engine tweaking).

- 1980 XS650 engine completely rebuild by Howard Smedley with a 277 Rephase, 750cc upgrade, performance crank, PMA charging system;
- New Mikuni TM34 Flatslide carbs;
- Heiden Tuning electronic ignition with XS performance coils;
- Custom stainless exhaust by John Campbell;
- Big tube, hardtailed, gooseneck frame by Fenland Choppers;
- Harley Davidson Heritage Softail 16" wheels with Kustom Tech discs and Ducati Monster Brembo calipers front and rear and Avon AM20/21 tyres;
- DNA springer front end;
- Original late 50's Lucas SSU 700/P1 with underslung parking light, fully restored and the amp meter replaced by a Mini Motogadget Vintage speedo with the pick up on the rear wheel;
- Original late 50's BSA C15 fuel tank, fully restored;
- BMW/Denfeld seat suspension with a custom leather seat by Matt Caufield;
- Tomasetti Z-bars;
- Grimeca front master cylinder;
- Ducati Monster rear master cylinder on a custom bracket with original Yamaha XS650 footrests (and BSA rubber);
- Late 70's Harley Davidson Shovelhead oiltank fashioned into a battery box (Shorai battery) and coil holder;
- Twin ribbed fender (echoing the ribs on the tank);
- Rear light made out of a late 50's Cadillac rear light (LED re-pop) and a original 1914 brass artillery shell;
- Original Restored Indian horn;
- Honda CX500 fuseholder cap fashioned into a rectifier holder;
- Engraved alternator cover by Tony 'the Engraver' Reynolds;
- Pinstriping by Nefarious;
- Paint by Peanut Butter Custom Paint.
