This conception was following a rally the Mrs and myself went to and she decided she wanted a trike rather than a little bobber. I had already started the ball rolling for a bobber but was happy to take on the challenge. I have built many bikes in the past but this was my first trike, with the idea that no one ever really likes trikes; but I wanted to build one that people could appreciate and actually say “that’s a nice trike". I managed to pick up a converted Sportster on eBay for good money that had already had the necessary paperwork in place, so it was a good starting platform. It was a monstrosity and just had no styling or character. I stripped it fully down, sold the standard forks, 4 speed engine, fenders, tanks and the boy racer alloy wheels on the rear - basically everything!. I modified the frame to take length out of the trike (incorporating more sweeping bends) and opted for Austin Healey Sprite 15” ‘knock-off’ wire wheels. I made all of the following at home in my garage (when not working); handlebars, a bespoke rear end, leather seat, integrated lights, stainless brake lines, front caliper mounting, camping rack and full wiring loom. Components which were bought and modified consisted of; springer front end with integrated fender mounts, oil tank, and HD big twin petrol tank. the paintwork was done by my father-in-law's paint shop. Trikes are hard to get looking something like attractive, but I would like to think this draws a crowd of interest wherever it goes and my Mrs is in love with it. It is such a surprising playful machine too!! Theres probably more details I've missed but the pictures show the work...
